Alexander Artyukhin, Founder of TheTsunami app – January 28, 2017
As your readers are primarily concentrated in Crescent City, I wanted to write to you about a new technological development that could save countless lives in your area.
Due to rising sea levels and swelling coastal populations, tsunamis and floods pose greater threats with each passing year. Yet many overlook the necessity of tsunami and flood preparedness, leading to enormous losses of lives when disasters strike.
I have developed an app with experts from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that will alert users the moment significant tsunami activity has been detected, and that will enable flood victims to quickly and efficiently seek emergency assistance.
When a tsunami is approaching, TheTsunami app will let users know the height and speed of the wave, provide a countdown to the estimated moment of impact and give them personalized escape routes. For more details, please check out our video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?
During any sort of flooding – whether caused by a tsunami, a hurricane or any other disaster – stranded users can tap the app’s SOS button to be immediately connected with all relevant emergency professionals in the vicinity. The technology will work even when GPS signals are at their weakest.
We have already signed a memorandum of understanding to gain access to the NOAA’s network of buoys, and have established a comprehensive app development plan. All we need now to make TheTsunami app a reality is to gather funds required to secure access to the buoy network and to fine-tune the server.
To raise the remaining funds, we’ll launch a Kickstarter campaign on February 15.

I hope that you’ll support our campaign, and that you yourself will download the app as soon as it’s been launched.
