While checking around with various companies the last few years about relocating their businesses here, Goodwill, In-N-Out Burger and Ross Dress For Less all had demographic requirements of 40,000 population. Our County is around 30,000.
In-N-Out Burger got the ROSE GOLDEN SEAL OF APPROVAL. Who’s that? That would be my mother. She was a health food fanatic. She passed away at the age of 96 just a couple of years ago. She refused to eat at McDonalds, Wendy’s, Burger King, and Jack-in-the-Box. Having finished her research, she decided at the age of 92, to try her first fast food burger and fries at In-N-Out Burger in Southern California. Why? Because of their quality control, decent ingredients and fresh cut potatoes. Once hooked, she would enter any In-N-Out without hesitation.
Today I learned that In-N-Out Burger is a family owned company worth somewhere between $1-2 Billion. At the helm is 30 year old Lynsi Torres. The thrice-married Torres has watched her family expand In- N-Out from a single drive-through hamburger stand founded in 1948 in Baldwin Park by her grandparents, Harry and Esther Snyder, into a fast-food empire.
Even Warren Buffet would like to own In-N-Out.
When ever we travel, we’ll take the time to pull in line or walk inside one of their places. Their efficiency is legendary. Their politeness and friendliness never fails. Their food always satisfies with fresh ingredients. We also enjoy their biblical quotations on their cups and food wrappers.
What are the odds that an In-N-Out would open a place in Crescent City? My best guess, not anytime in the foreseeable future. But, I sure wish they would.
