In our article, Fluoride in Other Areas Compared to Crescent City, published on February 18, 2015, we mentioned the Mosaic Company, the company that produces hydrofluosilicic acid, the chemical used in water fluoridation.
In the news recently, after decades of environmental damage caused by hill-sized piles of acidic hazardous waste in Florida and Louisiana, one of the world’s largest fertilizer makers (Mosaic Company) has settled a massive federal lawsuit that amounts to nearly $2 billion in fixes, improvements and cleanup.
These massive piles have been involved in major pollution events for decades.
The legal agreement concerns the proper storage and disposal of more than 60 billion pounds of hazardous waste at eight facilities.
The Mosaic Company is also one of the funds that Crescent City, city employees can invest their retirement monies.
